Funny but yesterday, I sort of saw myself in the jeep conductor. I handle billing disputes and so is a bus or jeepney conductor, they handle disputes also. There are fare disputes or change disputes that I encounter everyday!
Here is the story. A mid-aged woman paid 10 pesos to the jeep conductor. The conductor said that the woman should give an additional of one peso. The woman disagreed and even mumbled bad words like, ” araw- araw ako namamasahe, wag mo akong gawing tanga!” read: I ride the jeep everyday and I know how much I should pay!… There was a pause. Maybe the conductor tried to regain some composure then he declared, you must add additional one peso because you came from that area, right? Funny, the woman gave another one peso and said yes. Then she did not argue anymore. The winner of the story is the conductor.
I could relate to the conductor. You know, as long as you know the facts and you are confident that what you are saying is right, then you should stand firm by it. After all, the driver is working hard also. I can also see my friend in that conductor. Firm yet still maintained to be nice.
