Learn a thing or two

14 Jan

One of my resolutions for this year is to read more. Not particularly pocket books but at least I must learn a thing or two everyday. How can I do that? By reading or watching TV or listening to the radio or maybe I could also get it from other people. Reading is the best way to learn, I guess.

What did I learn today? I was able to read tretinoin reviews and learned about some skin conditions in the process. Tretinoin is usually prescribed for acne and chicken skin. I like learning about the scientific name for chicken skin and that is Keratosis pilaris. KP it is! Something is playing inside my mind and it is a very naught thought. Here in our country, when a person is overly sensitive, he is being called onion skin. I just thought that maybe for insensitive people, we could call them KP!

The tourist guide

12 Dec

We went with our son to his first ever ” Educational” field trip last Thursday. My son goes to a private school but not to an exclusive one. Now I am really disappointed with myself not being able to bring him to a better school. But, I should not really be hard on myself. I wanted more but my resources are not enough I guess. What is important is that I am doing my best.

Well, I did not really want to be an antibiotic but the tourist guide was really not that good at all. He was even teaching kids teasing songs. There was a contest between the girls and the boys and whenever the other team scored, he would teach a song that would tell the other team about their being losers. I think that is cruel even though that is just to set a funny and light mood. He could have done that better.

Claps your hands in the air

20 Nov

Alright now, clamps your hands in the air! What? Maybe you mean, clap? I was talking to my son. Sometimes, he pronounces words in a very different manner. He still has this difficulty in saying some letters especially if already combined with the other characters in the alphabet. But, I am proud of my son because he can now speak both in English and Filipino language. Before, we really would like him to speak in straight English. When he started going to school, he could not converse with his classmates. Her teacher even thought that he was deaf and mute. Thus, we tried to speak to him in Filipino already. Good thing that he does not forget his capability to speak in English. Here inside the house, he still converse to us in English most of the time. In school, that we do not know and not in control of anymore.

Talent of the pen

31 Oct

One of my favorite subjects is English Reading and Writing. I love book reviews. I also enjoy making my own short stories. I could not forget that short story assignment or project in our English subject during my first year in high school. I got a very high grade. However, my teacher called my attention. She asked me about the story submitted by my classmate who happened to be one of my friends. She asked me to be honest enough to admit that I was the one who wrote it. I did not know what to say. I could not think fast. Hey, I was still very innocent at thirteen years old to be able to lie straight! I did not know how to face my friend, then. I was just glad that my teacher understood and just let my classmate submit another story without elaborating why. Until now, I know that I am still a favorite of my English teacher. She understood that I just wanted to help. However, it is correct that we should teach men to catch a fish and not give them the fish or else, they will not learn to stand on their own.

Come college time, there is still essay writing. Many buy essay for certain fee. Who can blame them? Not everyone has that talent to use the pen and create a beautiful story. Another thing, it is a busy world. With the advent of internet, life could actually be easier. There are buy essay student help sites where you could go to. Now, I have an idea, you could actually come to me. :) Kidding aside, I read that buying an essay would actually need your inputs too so that the essay that you buy will actually look like you are the one who wrote it.

Climb up the corporate ladder

20 Sep

Sometimes, you think that you have done your best but it seems that your best is not enough. You are a very good employee and get high appraisal every year except for the promotion that you have been waiting for. What seemed to be lacking? Maybe you need to upgrade your resume by taking a course that is related to your job right now. You might want to take a masteral degree or maybe an Organizational development degree. After that, you could go and take Organizational Leadership.

You do not have time to study? Then, why not study online? Gonzaga University offers Organizational Leadership Masters, Communication and Leadership Masters, Nursing Masters, RN to MSN, Nursing Education Masters, and Servant Leadership Masters. You would definitely go a long way when you take any of these online courses. I will tell my supervisor about it. She might be interested to take Masters in Organizational Leadership. She has been hired as a business analyst and I am sure that after taking this course, she would start to climb or be at the higher step of the corporate ladder.

Face painting

25 Mar

spOne of the regular activities during kiddie parties is face painting. It is really fun. It is advisable to have during birthday parties, Halloween parties, Christmas parties, graduation parties, and others. Face painting is not just a make up to cover a face or to serve as a mask for a certain event. Moreover, it serves as a medium of art and self expression. Anybody who participates and have his face painted on would have this awareness of an art form. Who knows, that could be a way to develop something or touch a certain potential in a child.

You, yourself could try becoming a face paint artist by purchasing a face painting video. That would be a great idea this summer. I am sure your children would enjoy this. Get your face painting dvd now at www.VideoShelf.com.

Mom and Child Talk: Bring Money at School

04 Sep

Two days ago, I checked my son’s assignment notebook. There was a note there about books being sold at discounted prices. It said there- optional. A list was provided. I did not pay too much attention on it because my kid has many books already. However, he had been mentioning it to us that the teacher advised them to bring money if they would like to buy. Yesterday, he went to school and we totally forgot to ask him if he wanted to buy. When I got home, my husband told me that my son was crying at school because he was the only one who was not given a new book. He told his dad, “I told you that teacher said to bring some money to pay for the books!” He was eying a Pokemon coloring book. My heart broke. I did not realize that he might feel left behind or inferior. It might develop a sense of envy or jealousness also. It is like all the others were given a donut (his favorite snack) except for him. Today, I am going to his school and will ask his teacher if the books are still available. If not, I owe my son to bring him to a book store, instead.

Manic Monday- Club

24 Aug

All I can remember are all those clubs during my elementary days. I was a member of Math Club, Science Club, Filipino Club, Reading Club… name it. I was also part of the rondalla and the chorale too! I could say that I enjoyed all those clubs meeting friends and becoming more popular. It was sort of a pressure for me when I was in elementary because I had to follow the footsteps of my cousins who were known to be smart students. They were on top of their classes. I was just fourth so I had to join those clubs to at least make up for it.

Heads or Tails #1- Sit or Stand

21 Jul
[button4.gif]

It is my first entry for HoT meme for this blog!
Well, my heart is still pounding. I cannot wait until 330PM when my son’s teacher dismisses the class. I will not really let go of this matter sitting down.
I have to stand by my son all the way. I am not being a stage mother. I just want to monitor his progress in school and it is my right to question the way things are being executed inside the classroom. I have nothing against the teachers though. I just want to make sure that my son is getting what we are paying for.

If you want to join Heads or tails, click on the button or here.
