Cold morning

I love the idea of having a job. In times like this though that it is real cold and a weekend, I hope that I am on a vacation. I have to go to the office in an hour. I am still in my PJs! I had breakfast though. The leftover spaghetti from last night’s party. Ahhh… sometimes you just eat for the sake of eating. You just have to fill that stomach so that there will be no grumbling later. No wonder many people get fat… New Year’s resolution once again? I have broken each one every year. I guess, I should stop making. :)

Brrrr…. it is real cold. I am so lazy to get up. But, I must.

How long have been away from the office? Nine long days! As you all know, typhoon Ondoy hit Metro Manila and other parts of Luzon. I am from San Mateo Rizal and we were affected too. I have a very long post about this experience but I will just post it later.

Well, I hope that the road will be clear now. I could still remember the last time I passed by the usual route, there were mud, garbage, dead animals scattered all around. As usual, it was heavy traffic.

It is raining today. The skies are dark. Not raining heavy though. I could tell that it is the usual shower. Maybe to clean the mud? Actually, I realized that we should have not tired ourselves from all the cleaning of the road because the One Up There will help us do that through the rain.

So, what am I looking forward to in the office today? I do not know. One thing sure, it would be a lot of work, pending tasks, etc… To be honest, I do not like to be on leave for this long. I want to keep my job of course. The company I am working for is very good and generous. They immediately gave us calamity assistance upon learning the effects of Ondoy. No questions asked. Documents to follow. For that, I am really greatful. But of course, that is another story.

My shift is still at 12PM. Thanks to my office buddy who would like to take the earlier shifts. So, it is 709AM. I guess, I would still take a little nap then by 8AM, start to prepare.

I pray to God that this will be a beautiful day, as always!

June is finally gone

I am not talking about a person here. I am talking about the month of June. I actually jotted down some notes for my plans for June. Was able to do all of them? My little notebook is actually nowhere to be found thus I could not check. Ha,haha! Well, June is gone and so the things that go with it are also gone, I guess. June was a crazy month for me. I attempted to do things but I was not successful. There was I point that I needed to decide on something. I pray that I made the right decision.

So, welcome July!

Towards business stability

All the bosses were beating their heads up this afternoon. They were talking about Corporate Branding. Apparently, our group has to meet the expectations of the brand that we should project or the company is gearing towards to. My superior approached me and informed me in advance of the changes that would take place. I really like that leader of ours. She is so encouraging.

I wonder if they had consulted with a marketing group like Brand Identity Guru regarding their plans for the year. Yes, it is already the second quarter and the past four months could have been more productive if there was a map being followed.

Brand Identity Guru (BIG) has a very good portfolio with good products and companies that succeed under its name. Yes, BIG is sort of an external marketing arm that you could hire for their services. Rest assured that you would get your money’s worth because it would help you from start to finish creating that image and knowing your followers and maintaining them towards business stability. When business is stable it means profit and more jobs which we all want, right?

The best of the best

Another person came to our company and already as a member of the top management. I wonder where she and the other new faces in our company came from. I could say that they deserve the position they are holding right now as I read through their background. Yes, they are being introduced through a company wide e-mail and all their accomplishments are listed there. One would always be full of experience and already came from even a higher position from the previous organizations they worked for. Tenure is really no compare with skills, experience and expertise and not to forget a well decorated career. How to get them? I am sure that our company got all those good people from different Executive Search Firms. Actually, the people who do that are commonly called as head hunters.

I am going to ride an airplane!

Yippee! It was already announced that we would be visiting Cebu! That would be for a cascade. I am so excited. God is really good! Though it would be purely work going there unlike the previous trips that we had, it would be a great exposure! I should break a leg!

I would be going to the mall today and buy some personal stuffs. Yeah, I am overacting? Well, I would like everything to be in place. I would be traveling with the bosses. It is quite a pressure for me also because the people I would be with are fashionable and wear shoes with 3 inches minimum heels! I would really look small beside them! Oh, when did I start caring about my looks?

Today is my rest day but I actually would like to go to the office to master what we are going to present. Now that is A over excitement!

I plan to bring my laptop so that I could still do my blogging. On the second thought, it would just be an overnight trip so I might just not. Oh, well… The trip would be next week! See you at the skies!

Workplace: I miss the place not the work

I got home early yesterday! The reason? I did not drop by the nearby malls and did some window shopping! Kidding aside, we were allowed to work at our home base. There was an activity at the main office. Elevators were undergoing the regular maintenance and the water supply was being checked also. My duty was 9 AM and I arrived at the office after only around 45-50 minutes of travel. Oh, how comfortable! I missed the place and the people there though almost all of our buddies were on a rest day! As they say, there is no place like home.

Nothing changed. Everybody was busy after a few chat and how do you do’s. We did not notice that it was already time to go home. In less than an hour, I was already eating dinner with my husband.

The body dictates

Now I feel tired of the very long travel from my secluded home town to the modern city of Makati. I have to leave home by 8AM and that is no guarantee that I would be arriving the office on time. Well, I chose to ride the shuttle and waiting for it to be completely filled up by passengers take some thirty minutes. Yes, it is a matter of choice. If I would like to not be so tired or have my commuting time be shortened then I should take the train.

I have not been blogging as I used to because the only thing that my body dictates me to do the moment I stepped into our doorstep is head to the bedroom and close my eyes. I never felt this tired before. Now, I am thinking if it is all worth it… But then again, I know that my decision is right for me to accept the project to work away from our office base . I thought that it might be God’s answer to my prayers for some peace of mind. There are many things bothering me at the office to the point that I wanted to resign. But, where would I go? My husband does not want me to leave our company also. It has been good to us. In terms of company benefits, what they offer is at par with that of multinational comapnies. Besides, I really do not have the right to complain at all. There are people who lost their jobs nowadays. What I could pray for right now is the stability of the economy… and yes, for me to be a better employee everyday.

Today is my rest day. See, I have time to write. I do not like to see the highway and all the vehicles on it. I do not like to smell the smoke that pollutes the air . Well, I would miss all the different faces that I meet everyday. They can all wait til tomorrow. Today, I might just spend the whole day sleeping and watching my favorite TV shows.

Hustle bustle

Yes, it was all hustling and bustling the past days. I did not really have a hard time commuting going to my temporary workplace in Makati because there were shuttles to bring me there. The going back home was harder because of the long lines or I have to take the MRT ride instead. All in all weekdays were okay, I had to work Saturday and Sunday though. Oh, thanks goodness, no traffic so I could afford leaving home one hour and fifteen minutes before the time. The MRT is always a lifesaver beating the traffic in EDSA. Actually, supposedly, there should be none but the buses make it a point to stop at every stop to pick some passengers.

What I appreciate and at the same time not love so much about working in Makati is the long walks. Going up and down the overpass to ride the MRT then there are no exact stops in the area except for the designated loading and unloading zones. I have to alight from the shuttle or jeep still two blocks away from our office. That is a minimum five minute walk depending on my speed. The first day, my calves were aching!

Tomorrow is another day. Yes, we have to report there again. Well, I chose to work at 11AM to 8PM sked. Yes, no waking up at 5AM this time. I could afford to sleep until around 7AM. No hustling and bustling anymore!

The Shuttle Service

We love riding the airplane. We can only do it once a year though and it is even free! That is during our annual team celebration program. This activity gives us an opportunity to bond with the members of our team. What a great idea by the company, is it not? It is our break off from work. We usually choose a destination that is really far and would need an airplane ride. Yes, we have to pay extra because it usually cost more than the allowable expense provided by the company. What is important to us is that we could ride that airplane once more.Lol!

After the airplane ride, the next thing to look for is a shuttle service that would bring us to our destination. Most of the time, the land travel is even longer than the plane ride that is why, we hope that the shuttle service that we could get is somehow like that of JFK Shuttle. We would like a first class service of course. There was one time that the one we got has no room for our backpacks and trolleys! It was really uncomfortable. JFK Shuttle service makes sure that the vehicle that they will provide has enough room for the passengers and the luggage!
