Mom and child talk: What did you bring me today, Mommy?

Actually, my son asks, What did you brought me today, Mommy? I always try to correct his grammar every time. Well, it feels great knowing that someone depends on you and someone values you a lot. You know, kids! Their smiles are enough payment for everything.

My son loves Pringles! Onion and Sour Cream Flavor. I know junk foods are not really good. I give in to that because my son does not eat everything that a usual kid eats. There are only few products that could satisfy his taste buds.

Two days ago, he went to me and asked me again, what did you brought me today, Mommy? I said what did I bring you today? Nothing! He then, cried and said, Waaaahhhhh!!!! Then he stopped and just said, Okay bring me green chips tomorrow, do not forget…

This morning, he was very surprised! I was contented. I know, I made him happy. I bought him 7 packs of his favorite chips! Well, buy one take one!

Talk to him

My son? He loves toys! He always wants to buy one every time we visit the mall. Well, as a loving parent, I would like to see him smile and not cry around or even throw any tantrums if we could not give in to his request. I am just glad that as he grows older, we could talk to him already. He now understands that there are days that he will just have to look at it and maybe do the buying some other time like on his next birthday maybe or if Mom and Dad will have extra cash.

Thoughts of Papa

When I was commuting about four hours ago, many thoughts entered my mind. First, it was my Dad. Well, I think of him from time to time. I was closer to my father. I would say, I love him more. He is not with me anymore. I hope and pray for his soul to be of course in Heaven, with the Lord. He died 1996. It was a long time ago. My Aunt died two years ago and we had a chance to visit our father’s grave again. Oh, life… and death. His remains were in a sack. My Aunt had to be buried in the same grave…

My father died at the age of 69. I was barely in my early 20s then. We had a generation gap. We never had the usual or the ideal father and daughter relationship. I had so many questions then. I was not contented…

I am a parent now. I hope my son would not ask the same questions I asked before. My son and I somehow has this generation gap also… I am praying everyday that I am being able to perform my task as a parent. It is not easy.

I love you, Papa.

The vegetable trick

I am into cooking this day. That is why I am glad that I am always at the 12 to 9 shift. Anyways, my son’s favorite is red rice. It is actually red sauce. His favorite is Del Monte Afritada sauce. do we just heat it? Nah! Of course, we have to cook afritada. Simple, I just have to boil some chicken with a dash of salt. When the chicken is cooked already, that is the time that I will pour the instant Afritada sauce. Yesterday, I did it with carrots and green beans. He loved it. Today, I added broccoli and cabbage. Guess what? He could tell that the taste was different! Maybe it is because of the cabbage? Anyways, he still ate his red rice. There was some veggie trick. That gave me the idea of more tricks to come! :)

Do you resort to bribing your child?

Rewards and punishment is one of the most popular and widely used method knowingly or unknowingly by parents in diciplining their children. Child psychology is really challenging, is it not? I just came across this thought because my son was crying a while ago and to appease him and make him totally stop, I gave him something that he could not resist. I will just not tell you, what it is, he,he,he.

Anyways, how about you? Do you sometime resort to bribing your child?

Claps your hands in the air

Alright now, clamps your hands in the air! What? Maybe you mean, clap? I was talking to my son. Sometimes, he pronounces words in a very different manner. He still has this difficulty in saying some letters especially if already combined with the other characters in the alphabet. But, I am proud of my son because he can now speak both in English and Filipino language. Before, we really would like him to speak in straight English. When he started going to school, he could not converse with his classmates. Her teacher even thought that he was deaf and mute. Thus, we tried to speak to him in Filipino already. Good thing that he does not forget his capability to speak in English. Here inside the house, he still converse to us in English most of the time. In school, that we do not know and not in control of anymore.

Wake up, wake up, wake up

Wake up, wake up, wake up! You would hear that every morning inside our house! It is 6Am and we all have to wake up! When I was in elementary, I did not have to wake up this early or had I? That was a long time ago, I could not recall anymore, ha,ha,ha! My mind is already awake but my eyes would still like to sleep.

My son is now taking a bath. Thanks to the water heater. Well he has to go to school and does not like not to be able to raise his hand when the teacher asks, who took a bath today! He is happy that tomorrow would be Friday as his Dad asked him what is the day today. Huh? What an answer!

So, would I finally get out of this bed too? Nah! I would get up by 9AM.

Mom and Child Talk: I want to make a robot with brain

My son was able to watch in the news about the human android. It is a robot that has the ability to give human expressions.

A while ago, my son said that he wants to make an android. A robot whom he could talk to. I told him that he could not talk to the robot the way he talks to us. He asked, why? I told him because the robot does not have a brain to understand him. He said, let us buy a brain that we could put in the robot. I told him that it would not be possible. He asked why? I told him that a brain is a gift from God. I told him that living things have brain…except from plants, huh! You know what my son said next? He said that since we eat animals like chicken, cow and pig, why don’t we get their brains and put it in the robot that he wants? He said that he needs the robot for his companion.

Oh, dear child of mine. I think what you need is a brother or a sister.

Signal No. 1, no classes for Pre-schoolers

My son was absent from school last Monday because of terrible colds.  I do not want other kids catch the virus. Come Tuesday, he looked fine thus we sent him to school. My son loves to go to school because he is bored inside our little house. He loves to play with other kids and learn new things from his teacher.

Last night, it was announced that there is Feria, the new typhoon! It is already signal number one here in Manila and the rest of the region. We told our son that he would not be able to go to school today. He was sad.

Anyways, at least he would have more rest. He still has his colds and now, he has cough.

I pray that he gets well, soon!

Excited for the classes to start

Though it would mean more traffic when the classes open, I am excited! Well, my son would be in PREP already! I hope that he would learn to read and write by that time. However, I would miss those times when he would always ask us to write on his drawing board every word that he thought of. Ha,ha,ha! Well, he thinks of words to enter at the search engine of a popular game site!

I hope I could take part in my son’s schooling this time. We never really had a study time because I was too busy. I am still busy because I go to work five days a week and when I got home, I still have to do home works of my own.
